Kitefoil vs wingfoil vs kitesurf
Wingfoil uses a handheld wing; kitefoil uses kite lines and a foil board. Kitesurf on a twintip or surfboard is the usual stepping stone before adding a mast and foil.
If you are still consolidating waterstarts, body-drag and upwind riding, time on a regular kiteboard usually delivers faster progress than jumping straight to a foil.
Prerequisites we look for
Comfortable riding upwind, controlled jumps optional but helpful, and calm relaunch in the conditions of the day. You should already read wind shifts and manage power without over-sheeting.
Tell us your last spot, typical wind range and board size — we match foil size, kite size and lesson plan to your weight and skill honestly.
Safety and lesson structure
Foil crashes happen away from swimmers and shallow reef. We keep clear zones, helmet and impact vest when appropriate, and short coaching blocks with debriefs.
Sessions may blend beach drills, shallow-water foil touch-downs, and supervised rides — always dependent on tide, wind quality and crowd levels in the bay.
Booking and availability
Message with dates, level, weight and whether you bring your own foil. Kitefoil coaching is offered when instructors and suitable conditions align — we confirm rather than promise a fixed daily slot.
For a full week mixing surf, classic kite and foil progression, see our Packs page and ask for a written plan.
